Q&A With Pascaline Richir-Gardner, Graphic Designer

Get to know our graphic designer a little better, Pascaline Richir-Gardner: She’s French, walks 10 miles a day, and loves ideas.

Q: How did you get into this business?
A: When I was in 10th grade, I had to spend a week working at a company for school. I ended up at an advertising agency. I spent most of my time with the creative team, who immediately asked me to work on some of their projects. I knew I wanted to pursue graphic design by the end of the week.

Q: If you didn’t work in the marketing world, what would you be doing?
A: I would be a florist.

Q: Why did you decide to go into marketing/PR/creative/etc?
A: I always liked to imagine stories and to play with shapes, images, and colors.

Q: What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?
A: I’ve never seen a Star Wars movie.

Q: What’s one thing you have to keep stocked in your fridge?
A: Organic Plain Yogurt.

Q: What excites you?
A: Ideas.

Q: What’s your weirdest habit, superstition, etc?
A: I fold plastic bags and dirty laundry.

Q: Have you ever lived outside of the US?
A: I grew up in France, and I lived in London for a year and a half.

Q: What’s your favorite sport?
A: Aquacycling.

Q: What’s one thing you can’t live without?
A: The keys to my apartment.

Q: What’s your favorite book?
A: Les Fleurs du Mal by Charles Baudelaire. However, when I was a child, I loved Ernest et Celestine ont perdu Simeon. When I was a teenager, it was Une Vie by Guy de Maupassant. And in my early twenties, I was always talking about Belle du Seigneur by Albert Cohen.

Q: What was your first job?
A: I worked in the summer as an operator in the subscriptions service of Le Nouvel Observateur.

Q: What’s your favorite song?
A: “Octopus Garden” by The Beatles

Q: Where did you go to school?
A: ATEP in Paris, France

Q: If you could have one superpower what would you choose?
A: To be able to fly.

Q: What are you into right now?
A: Walking! Because of the Halo Fitness Challenge, I walk 10-ish miles every day. And I love it!

Q: If you could invite any three people in history to dinner, who would they be?
A: Charles Baudelaire, Nicolas de Stael, and Samuel Beckett. I would have a lovely evening.

Q: What advice do you have for a client when working with their agency?
A: Don’t be afraid to be bold.
