The Halossary Contest Official Rules

NO PURCHASE NECESSARY

  1. Contest Period: The Halossary Contest (the “Contest”), begins at 12:00am Eastern Time (“ET”) on 5/10/16 and ends 11:59pm ET on 6/18/16 (the “Contest Period”). The Contest includes six (6) separate Entry Periods (each, an “Entry Period”), as outlined in the chart below in Rule #3. The Website’s database clock will be the official timekeeping device for the Contest.
  2. Eligibility: Open only to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia, who are 18 years of age or older as of date of Entry. Employees of The Halo Group (the “Sponsor”), its affiliates, directors, agents, subsidiaries (collectively with Sponsor, the “Contest Entities”) and members of their immediate families (spouses, parents, children, and siblings and their spouses), are not eligible. Void where prohibited by law. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply.
  3. How to Enter: During the Contest Period, visiting http://thehalogroup.com/halossary/ (“Website”) and follow the instructions provided to complete the registration form. You must also indicate your original marketing/advertising industry term and definition you think should be included in the Halossary (collectively “Entry”). You may submit a maximum of # characters for the term and a maximum of # characters for the definition. Entries become the property of Sponsor. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, corrupted or incomplete Entries. Proof of submission is not proof of receipt by Sponsor. Entries must be received within the Weekly Entry Period indicated in the chart below to be included in the judging for that Week’s prize only. Entries will not be carried forward for any subsequent Weekly Entry Periods. Entries must be received by 11:59:59pm ET on 6/17/16 to be included in the last Week’s judging. Limit Entries per person/email address per Entry Period.

  4. Entry Guidelines: All Entries must be in English and must comply with these Official Rules, as determined in Sponsor’s sole discretion. Entries must be the sole, original work of the Entrant. Sponsor reserves the right to modify any Entry in their sole discretion. Entrants may not copy or otherwise plagiarize any portion of the Entry from any other source. In such an event, the Entry will be disqualified from the Contest. Entries must be in keeping with Sponsor’s image, or they will be disqualified. The Entry may not contain obscene, profane, lewd, defamatory or inappropriate text. Entries may not contain any materials that violate or infringe (or may be at risk of infringing) any third party rights, including without limitation copyright, trademark rights, privacy rights (including portrayal in a false light), publicity rights, or other intellectual property rights. Entries should not contain brand names or other personal or proprietary materials of any entity or person living or deceased. Sponsor has the sole discretion to determine whether an Entry qualifies as an Entry. Any Entry not in compliance with the above and which does not meet the requirements of these Official Rules will be disqualified. By entering, you agree to waive any rights you may have to the Entry submitted.
  5. Transfer of Rights: By submitting an Entry, Entrant hereby irrevocably grants the Contest Entities the non-, non-transferable, royalty-free, perpetual, worldwide rights to use, reproduce, publish, edit, market, store, adapt, assign, sell, dispose of, distribute, have distributed, publicly and privately display, communicate, publicly and privately perform, transmit, have transmitted, create derivative works based upon, and promote the Entry or excerpts of the Entry (as such may be edited and modified by the Sponsor in its discretion) in perpetuity, for editorial, commercial, promotional and all other purposes (including posting on the Website, and/or other Sponsor-selected media).
  6. Judging: All eligible Entries received for each Weekly Entry Period will be judged by the Sponsor from among all eligible Entries received for that Weekly Entry Period, based on the following criteria: Relevance (20%); Creativity (20%); Originality (20%); Humor (20%); and Probability of term being used in an industry meeting (20%). In the event of a tie, tied Entries will be re-judged based solely on: Originality (100%). The highest-scoring Entry will be deemed that Week’s winner, subject to verification. Decisions of Sponsor (“judges”) are final with respect to all matters relating to the Contest. By participating, Entrants agree to the decisions of the judges, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Winners will be notified by email. If prize/prize notification is returned as non-deliverable an alternate winner will be determined.
  7. Prizes: Six (6) Weekly Prizes [one (1) per week]: A $75 Amazon electronic gift card. Limit of one Weekly Prize per person. Terms and conditions on gift card apply. No cash redemptions, substitution or transfer of prize permitted except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor who reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value in the event a prize is unavailable. Any applicable taxes are the sole responsibility of winners.
  8. General Rules: By participating, Entrants agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of the Judges and Sponsor, which shall be final and binding in all respects. Winners and all Entrants, as a condition of Entry into the Contest, agree to release and hold harmless Contest Entities and Facebook and their respective parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates and the shareholders, directors, officers, employees, representatives, successors, assigns and agents of each from and against any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to persons or property which may be sustained in connection with creation of or submitting an Entry or otherwise participating in or preparing for any aspect of the Contest, the receipt, ownership, possession and/or use or misuse of prize awarded or any typographical or other error in these Official Rules or the announcement or offering of the prizes or for any claims or causes of action based on publicity rights, defamation or invasion of privacy and merchandise delivery. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission to the Contest Entities to use winning Entrants’ names, likenesses and the winning Entrants’ Entries for promotional purposes (including any possible public relations opportunities) without further compensation, notice, review or approval, except where prohibited by law. The Sponsor and its agencies are not responsible for technical, hardware, software or telephone malfunctions of any kind, lost or unavailable network connections, or failed, incorrect, incomplete, inaccurate, garbled or delayed electronic communications caused by the user or by any of the equipment or programming associated with or utilized in the Contest or by any human error which may occur in the processing of the Entries in the Contest or for any liability for damage to any computer system resulting from participation in, accessing or downloading information in connection with the Contest. The Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual that tampers or attempts to tamper with the Entry process or the operation of the Contest or Website; violates the Official Rules; or acts in an unsportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. Any attempt by any person to deliberately undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel or modify this Contest for any reason, including (but not limited to) if, for any reason, the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of the Contest. If such cancelation occurs, Sponsor reserves the right to determine the Weekly winners from among all eligible Entries received during each Weekly Period prior to cancellation based on the same criteria listed above.
  9. Disputes: Except where prohibited, Sponsor reserves the right to make all decisions in its sole discretion arising out of or relating to the Sweepstakes, and the decisions by Sponsor are final and binding on all matters relating to the Sweepstakes. Except where prohibited, you agree that: (a) any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of, or connected with the Sweepstakes or any prize awarded shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by the appropriate court located in the State of New York; (b) any and all claims, judgments, and awards shall be limited to actual out-of-pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering the Sweepstakes, but in no event attorneys’ fees; and (c) notwithstanding the foregoing, you waive the right to claim any damages whatsoever, including, but not limited to, punitive, consequential, direct, or indirect damages. All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules, your rights and obligations, or the rights and obligations of Sponsor in connection with the Sweepstakes, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the laws of the United States of America and the State of New York, without giving effect to any choice of law or conflict of law rules (whether of the laws of the State of New York or any other jurisdiction), which would cause the application of the laws of any jurisdiction other than State of New York.
  10. Data Collection: Personal information is collected from Entrants when they enter the Contest for use in administration of the Contest. When entering at the Website, you may be asked to consent to receive promotional emails and information from Sponsor. Consenting to receive such emails and information is optional, and is not necessary to enter or win this Contest, nor will it increase or improve your chances of winning. The information collected is subject to the Sponsor’s Privacy Policy located at http://thehalogroup.com/privacy-policy/.
