St. George’s University and The Halo Group Score with College Football Fans

NEW YORK, October 7, 2013 – St. George’s University (SGU) unveiled a new television campaign for its School of Medicine during college football game broadcasts across the country this weekend. This is the first television commercial airing on college sports programming for the international medical school. The spot will also air tonight during the New York Jets at Atlanta Falcons Monday Night Football game on New York’s WPIX-TV (Channel 11).

The three 15-second ads, developed by The Halo Group, will begin airing in rotation during regular Saturday afternoon and primetime college football programming on 30 ABC Network affiliate stations nationwide from October through the end of November.

“College football fans are exactly the ones who will appreciate our diverse and exciting education,” said Margaret A. Lambert, Dean of Enrolment Planning at SGU. “Fans are as passionate about their teams as our students and faculty are passionate about our education and their experience gained at SGU.”

St. George’s University has placed more doctors into first-year U.S. residency positions than any other medical school in the world. To date, SGU has provided more doctors to the U.S. healthcare system than 2/3 of the U.S. medical schools – and many of them take posts in family and internal medicine, meeting the American Medical Association’s call for more primary care doctors. Students in the School of Medicine have come from over 140 countries and its more than 11,000 graduate physicians in the global health care system have practiced in over 50 countries around the world.

The creative concept behind the spots, asks the question, Who studied medicine at St. George’s University? introducing the credentials and ubiquity of SGU medical graduates in a fun and humorous way to jaded pre-med college students. In the one of the three spots, “Truck” a man is seen tripping over a child’s toy truck, tumbling down the stairs, uttering, “the doctor who treated me after my truck accident.” The voiceover – More than 11,000 doctors, in the U.S. and worldwide taking care of people just like you.

“SGU is a client with vision and the gumption to challenge convention,” said the CEO of The Halo Group. “We’ve been working alongside them for almost 20 years and it is this kind of thinking that has helped them evolve into a standard-bearer of international medical education.”

The TV campaign is part of an integrated campaign that uses other creative tactics to deliver the messaging, such as via trucks with mobile billboards travelling to college campuses nationwide.

The Halo Group developed and produced the creative campaign for St. George’s University and managed the media investment as well.
